Standard design sealing ring with external metal surface, a metal reinforcement and a spring-energized elastomer sealing lip.
Operation
Type C is a rotary shaft seal without a protective lip on the fluid contact area. The additional metal reinforcement gives the sealing ring more rigidity and the external metal coating ensures a secure fit. Type Cs have limited sealing ability against very low viscosity fluids or gases and in two-piece seats.
To ensure a high degree of static sealing on the external surface, an improved seat surface finish or an additional sealing paint layer on the external surface of the ring is required.
